Protection and Advocacy for Assistive Technology (PAAT)
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY LEGAL PROJECT

The Assistive Technology Legal Project (ATLP) is Iowa's PAAT Grant Program. Through this, we provide free legal help on assistive technology issues.

Do you need help with an adapted equipment legal issue?

  • Have you received a denial for adapted equipment from your insurance company?
  • Do you have Medicare and Iowa Medicaid and still can’t get covered equipment?
  • Are you a nursing home resident who needs a wheelchair?
  • Are you having problems getting equipment repairs done correctly or paid for?
  • Is your child having problems getting equipment or software from school?

Even if you are not sure you have a legal question, call Iowa COMPASS!

Referrals to the ATLP are made through Iowa COMPASS at 800-779-2001 or iowa-compass@uiowa.edu.

The Iowa Program for Assistive Technology is funded under the Assistive Technology Act of 1998, as amended by the U.S. Department of Education, Rehabilitation Services Administration. IPAT, the statewide assistive technology program for Iowans, is a program of Iowa's University Center for Excellence on Disabilities.
