There are many opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to experience summer camp in Iowa. Camp can provide an important social opportunity. Iowa COMPASS has information about day camps, residential camps, and camperships (funding to go to camp). You can also check out the Iowa Easter Seals Camp Sunnyside website for more information on their programs and how to look for accessible summer camps for your family member.

The GIVE Foundation is a not-for-profit organization to provide a structured golf program for injured Iowa Veterans who use the Iowa City VA Hospital. The golf program is comprised of four phases of training for injured veterans to participate in to enhance injured veteran’s mental, social, physical, and emotional well-being; and improve their quality of life.
Phase I: Introduction of Golf (rules, equipment, dress, scoring, etiquette, etc.)
Phase II: Indoor instruction at Riverside Casino and Golf Resort
Phase III: Practice outdoors at Blue Top Ridge
Phase IV: Golf at Blue Top Ridge, possible competition

UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN IOWA
What: Sports camp for young people in Iowa
to use wheelchairs for basketball, track & field,
tennis, and several other sports.
Who: Girls and boys, ages 2nd grade through high school,
with the ability to live mostly independently in a
supervised dormitory.
When: 5:00 pm Wednesday, June 15 to
3:00 pm Saturday, June 18, 2011
